The Hoya ‘Mathilde Splash’ is a beautiful and highly collectible tropical Hoya prized for its adorable rounded leaves and spectacular silver-splashed foliage. Its small, thick, succulent-like leaves feature a rich green colour generously decorated with shimmering silver flecks and splashes, creating a striking, almost metallic appearance that makes every leaf unique.

A charming hybrid between Hoya carnosa and Hoya serpens, the ‘Mathilde Splash’ combines the attractive, compact foliage of Hoya serpens with the vigorous growth and resilience of Hoya carnosa. Its delicate trailing vines develop an abundance of small, rounded leaves, creating a beautiful cascading display that is perfect for hanging baskets, shelves or training around a small trellis.

Mature plants can produce delightful clusters of tiny, fuzzy, star-shaped flowers in shades of creamy white to soft pink, featuring contrasting rosy-red centres. These charming blooms release a lovely sweet fragrance and can appear repeatedly under favourable growing conditions. A wonderful addition to any Hoya collection.

Care Tips

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Gentle morning sun can encourage healthy growth and flowering. Avoid harsh afternoon sunlight.

  • Watering: Allow most of the potting mix to dry between waterings. Its small, fleshy leaves store moisture, making it relatively tolerant of occasional missed waterings.

  • Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining Hoya or epiphytic potting mix that provides excellent aeration around the roots.

  • Temperature: Thrives in warm to moderate conditions. Protect from frost, cold draughts and Melbourne's winter chill.

  • Fertiliser: Feed lightly with a balanced fertiliser during spring and summer to encourage healthy growth and flowering.

  • Pet Friendly: Hoyas are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Please Note: Silver splashing naturally varies between individual plants, with some leaves displaying heavier silver coverage than others. New growth may develop different patterns as the plant matures. Flowers generally appear on established plants under favourable conditions. Avoid removing old flower spurs, as Hoyas can bloom repeatedly from the same points.

A charming and highly desirable collector's Hoya, perfect for anyone who loves miniature rounded foliage, shimmering silver markings and delicate clusters of sweetly scented flowers.
